Do Yourself a Favor and Release the Past!

We all have been guilty of not forgiving, being bitter, and holding resentment, and anger in our hearts. That doesn't make it ok. We are supposed to strive to be more Christlike daily, imitating our heavenly Father, our Lord. It should be our goal to know and grow and learn more of Jesus each day. We should have a deep desire to be filled with His spirit more than any other thing, this should always take residence. Not being able to forgive someone, hanging on to the past, rehearsing it over and over in your mind, is actually toxic for your body. If we are to be the temple of the Lord, because His precious Spirit lives within us , then we had better start displaying more of His characteristics.

I have several friends I have known a very long time who are stuck, so to speak in the past. They rehearse it over and over in their minds and hearts until it has become a habit for them. They are not living for the present, they are not looking for the future, they are stuck pondering why, what if, why me, why not, what went wrong, they roll it around over and over and they literally are stuck in the reality of that particular situation from long ago. It hurts to witness others you love dearly experience this pain, while you are left on the sidelines, attempting to help them out of the prison, within their minds. However, noone may release that lock except themselves. We can pray for them, and we can honestly be the best of persons to them. But understand it is not yours to take on. Be a friend and be honest, tell them the truth in love, and continue praying for them.

You know alot of times we see others doing these things, but overlook our own mistakes, sins, and unwise decisions. This is why we are to love one another and edify each other with the love of the word of God.

Noone is perfect, none, except our Lord Jesus Christ. If we continue looking back to the past, we can not set our vision on what is before us. When driving a vehicle we do not look in the rear view mirror at all times or we wouldnt make any progress down the road to our destination. So choose this day to release the past, go forward, look to the Lord for guidance to better tomorrows.

Haggai 2:9 “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.”
